By now you’ve heard a lot about Gratitude: keeping a Gratitude journal, writing down things every day for which you are grateful etc. etc. So, what’s the story behind all this Gratitude? Gratitude is a natural anti-depressant In her article on the Neuroscience of Gratitude, Madhuleena Roy Chowdhury says this: "Emily Fletcher, the founder of Ziva, a well-known meditation training site, mentioned in one of her publications that gratitude as a ‘natural antidepressant’. The effects of gratitude, when practiced daily can be almost the same as medications. It produces a feeling of long-lasting happiness and contentment, the physiological basis of which lies at the neurotransmitter level. When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters...

Your life is meant to be a dazzling expression of all that you are and t here was a time when you knew this to be true. You committed to each moment with your entire being. Your heart was wide open, you believed everything was possible and the radiance of this knowledge shone in your face and sparkled in your eyes! That was before you were told to be practical, responsible, and "could you please get your head out of the clouds". And with that, you shut down, grew up and started going through the motions of what you thought was expected of you. Going through the Motions Since then, you've been doing all the right things and taking well-charted roads. Each...

This is a massively important Life's lesson about the nature of Intention……. and I’ve used it every day since! Years ago I took up horseback riding. I was very much of a novice rider and on this particular day I was taking jumping lessons. My instructor drew a line in the sand some distance in front of the first jump and said: “Make sure the horse’s front hooves touch this line! Don’t be any closer to the jump or your horse won’t have enough room to clear it and you will gravely injure your horse!” You can’t image the fear and panic that rose in me at the thought that I might injure my horse. So, as we came around the corner of...

There are innumerable applications of this one principle in your life: relationships, finances, career, business building, study habits etc. It is indeed a core Truth and the more skilled you become in applying it, the sooner you will find yourself getting unstuck and creating the life you want. We’ve all experienced it. You’re trying to think of a word, it’s on the tip of your tongue, the more you try, the harder it is to remember. Out of frustration you let go of that thought and think/talk about something else. Or perhaps you go and do something that requires you to focus on another thought pattern, and then *bam*, out of the blue, there’s the word you were trying to remember! You...

Throughout my time as a Career Counselor, I've seen some pretty interesting versions of Cover Letters!  Here are some important things to keep in mind when writing one. The average Recruiter will spend 15 seconds reading your cover letter therefore, it does not serve you well to write long, information filled paragraphs 'telling your story'. Quite simply, the information will not be received. It's 100% your responsibility to present the information in a way that ensures they'll receive it. Here are 4 Easy Steps to a Great Cover Letter and one of the reasons why my Career Counseling clients get noticed! 4 Easy steps to a Great Cover Letter Step 1: The first paragraph must be brief and to the point. Awareness is 80% of the Journey so understanding this one point about Attachment will go a long way in helping you solve the riddle as to why unwanted themes are repeating themselves in your life. There’s a beautiful vine growing over the pergola in my backyard. During the Spring it sends out young tendrils that have a sticky, tacky nature to them. In their early stages of growth, these young shoots often point straight out into open air, not fastened to anything and as a result, are very vulnerable. When the wind blows, these un-tethered tendrils sway back and forth, inevitably bumping into other vines or the wooden posts of the pergola and due to their stickiness, they are able to take...

It’s a horrible feeling to know that you have caused another person pain, disappointed them and lost their trust. Even though you may be filled with genuine remorse and want to apologize, you need to know that simply saying ‘Sorry’ might not be enough. In fact, in certain situations this one-worded apology can actually increase the amount of hurt and resentment. And that’s the last thing you want to do! If your intent is sincere, it's best yo learn how to deliver an effective apology.   The Anatomy of a Sincere and Effective Apology Acknowledge / describe what you did and take full responsibility. Note: This is not the time for justifying your behaviour. Leave that for when the other person is...
