24 Jul A Story about Two Wolves
Have you ever noticed that Truth is simple? It doesn’t take up a lot of room and it really doesn’t require a lot of words. And so it is with this beautiful story about two wolves that clearly illustrates the power we have in each moment to make our lives whatever we want it to be.
A young Cherokee boy saw his grandfather seated by himself. He walked up to him and said, “Grandfather what are you doing?”
The grandfather said, “I am thinking about a fierce battle that is raging within me.”
The grandson’s eyes opened wide with concern and he said, “What is this battle about?”
The grandfather replied, “The battle is between two wolves.
One is filled with anger, resentment and self-pity.
The other is filled with understanding, love and compassion.”
The grandson thought about this for a moment and then asked, “Which wolf wins?”
The grandfather replied, “The one I feed.”
Where you look, you will go
Whether looking through the lens of Quantum Physics, Neuroplasticity, Behavioural training, or the effectiveness of Visulization to name a few, we now know that whatever you put your attention on, becomes your Reality. Or said another way: Where you look, you will go.
Dr. Peggy Malone, from the ‘Improvement Project Podcast’ says it well:
“If you believe that the world is a terrible place; that things are getting worse; that people are bad, that there is nothing to celebrate; that you are lonely; that you are worthless, that you are broken…..then you will look for evidence around you to support those beliefs. When you find the evidence, on the news, in your relationships, in your thoughts, in what happens to you….your beliefs will be confirmed.
Conversely, if you believe that the world is an amazing place; that things are getting better; that people are good; that there is so much to celebrate in each day; amazing people are all around you; you are the cats pyjamas; that you are whole and happy, then you will look around you for evidence that supports those beliefs. When you find that evidence, your beliefs will be confirmed.”
What’s your Emotional Frequency?
Your power lies in the fact that you have the free will to choose whichever thoughts and emotions you want. Additionally, all thoughts/emotions have a vibration to them so depending on which thoughts/emotions you choose, you can consciously/intentionally, vibrate at as low or high a frequency as you want.
Take a look at this Emotional Frequency Chart. Where do you rank on a regular basis? Are you angry and resentful for most of your day? Do you feel pessimistic or filled with hope as your week unfolds? How much of time do you spend feeling happy and enthusiastic about life?
Whichever frequency that is, the Universe, Life, whatever you choose to call it, will bring it to you as your Reality. It’s as simple as that. Whichever emotional frequency has become your dominant emotional state, becomes your Reality.
Which of the two Wolves are you feeding?
As always, awareness is half the journey. Being aware of the thoughts and emotions you’re engaging in at any given moment is your point of power, because once you’re aware that you’re feeling emotions that are, for example, in the orange and red area of the chart, you can jump on it immediately and shift to a higher frequency.
This is not to say that things won’t trigger you, the point is, don’t get stuck there. If you’re angry, find out why and change things. If you’re anxious, learn skills to get your power back. Feeling joyful and happy? Why not share it and multiply the feeling. That’s how much power you have to create the life you want. The higher your vibration, the happier your life!
